Electric Energys Brief History

Electric energy was first able to be recognized hundreds of years ago by the Greeks, they discovered that a static charge was created when amber was rubbed on fur and this static charged amber would attract light materials like feathers.

Other societies used small amounts of electricity for electroplating; the method is thought to use two pottery jars holding vinegar and a wire strung between the two jars would form a type of battery; the battery was able to produce small amounts of electricity which could attract smaller particles of metal to another piece of metal such as coins.

A fewer hundreds of years ago, Benjamin Franklin created the iridescent light bulb; there are many fabled tales of exactly how Franklin was able to harness electricity and use it for practical means.

Electric Energy Today

Electric energy today is used for nearly every aspect of life; nearly all American homes used electric energy for everything in their homes to make modern life possible. Electricity is such a part of modern life that many people couldnt imagine their lives without electricity; even when trying to escape modern life by camping, most people bring battery powered appliances to make camping more comfortable.

Electricity comes from power plants which utilize many different mediums to produce power and distribute it to every person within a certain area of the power plant. Electric energy may be produced by burning coal, nuclear fusion, and by burning trash or other waste materials.

In highly populated areas like California or New York, they sometimes have power outages or shortages due to the high demand for electric energy; because the areas are so populated, pollution can be a problem. To cope with that problem, many cities are looking for ways to make waste burning power plants.

Electric Energy In The Future

Coal burning power plants can create so much pollution that it can cause a build up of carbon dioxide and global warming; this global warming has the potential to change the earths climate by melting polar ice caps and raising the temperatures of the earths oceans.

Other fuel burning sources can cause this pollution and global warming; to combat these problems, scientist have been researching other ways to create electric energy which will cause less or no pollution.

Hydraulic power, wind turbine power, solar power, and waste processing power plants could solve the pollution problem while still providing electric energy to the communities.

Nearly every aspect of modern life utilizes electric energy; people are always finding new ways to use electricity and make cleaner, more efficient electricity, and will continue to further technology in the future with the use of electric energy.
